"One of the first pop music charts ever was compiled on Denmark Street.

Both Melody Maker and New Musical Express started on Denmark Street and in the 60s. Somebody had the brilliant idea of calling up record shops to ask them how many records they had sold that week and then they published the results.

Those were the first popular music charts ever. They were born on Denmark Street."
